Fostering Inclusion: Our Workshop on Being an LGBTQ+ Ally in the Workplace

On June 27th, Tru Relief partnered with Grupo Entregas Ecuador to host an enlightening and impactful workshop focused on how to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace. The session provided valuable insights and practical strategies to foster a more inclusive and supportive work environment.

A Day of Learning and Growth

Held at the offices of Grupo Entregas Ecuador, the workshop brought together participants eager to expand their understanding and commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion. Our goal was to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to become effective allies and advocates within their professional settings.

During the workshop, we explored a range of essential topics, including:

• Understanding LGBTQ+ Terminology: We demystified key terms and concepts, ensuring that participants had a solid foundation in the language of inclusion.

• The Importance of Allyship: We discussed why allyship matters and how it can positively impact workplace culture and employee well-being.

• Practical Strategies for Support: Participants learned actionable steps they can take to support their LGBTQ+ colleagues, from using inclusive language to advocating for equitable policies.

• Creating Safe Spaces: We emphasized the importance of creating a work environment where everyone feels safe and valued, and shared best practices for achieving this.

Engaging and Interactive Sessions

The workshop featured interactive sessions, group discussions, and real-life scenarios that allowed participants to practice their allyship skills. This hands-on approach helped to solidify the concepts and strategies discussed, making them more accessible and applicable in everyday workplace interactions.

A Special Guest Appearance

We had the honor of having a brief intervention from our Executive Director, Brandon Jo'el, who accompanied us from the United States. Brandon expressed his gratitude to the participants and Grupo Entregas for creating these vital training and awareness spaces not only for the LGBTIQ+ community but also for other minorities and groups. Committing them to continue working together on initiatives like this.
