Pride Month Recap: Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

Pride Month has been an exciting and significant journey for our organization, filled with events that highlighted the importance of inclusion and the recognition of LGBTI+ rights. Below, we share a summary of the activities we participated in throughout June.

June 7: Presentation on the Methodology of Measurement and Results of Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation

On June 7th, thanks to the invitation of Fredy Lobato and our friends at Relief from the Ecuadorian Foundation for Equality, we had the honor of participating in a presentation organized by the Ecuadorian Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC). This event marked a historic milestone, as, for the first time, a Population and Housing Census in the country and the region included questions about sex-gender diversity. This advancement provides crucial information about the characteristics and living conditions of the LGBTI+ population, and these statistics are fundamental in the pursuit of inclusion and the effective recognition of rights for LGBTI+ people.

June 15th: Diversity Picnic

The second event we participated in was the DIVERSITY PICNIC on June 14th. This event was a vibrant and colorful celebration where members of diverse communities gathered to enjoy a day outdoors, sharing experiences and promoting equality and respect. It was an occasion to strengthen bonds and reaffirm our commitment to diversity.

June 22nd: Diverse Pride Opening Festival Quito 2024

The third highlighted event was the Diverse Pride Opening Festival Quito 2024 on June 22th, where the community enjoyed a day full of music, art, and culture. This festival, a celebration of identity and expression, allowed attendees to connect, learn, and celebrate together in an atmosphere of love and respect. We sincerely thank our friends at Diálogo Diverso for their cordial invitation and for making us part of such beautiful events.

June 28¿7th: Workshop with Grupo Entregas

Additionally, on June 27th, we had the opportunity to organize a workshop together with Grupo Entregas. This workshop focused on educating and raising awareness among participants about diversity and inclusion, providing them with practical tools to promote a more inclusive and respectful work environment. The interaction and mutual learning during this workshop were enriching for all attendees.

June 28th: Bye Bye Pride 2024 Event

Finally, we closed the month with the Bye Bye Pride 2024 event on June 30th. This event was an emotional and joyful farewell to Pride Month, where we reflected on the achievements made and renewed our commitment to the cause. It was a night full of inspiring speeches, music, and celebration, which left us motivated to continue working for a more just and inclusive society.

June has been a month of learning, celebration, and growth. We thank all the people and organizations that made each of these events possible and who, with their dedication and passion, continue to fight for the rights and dignity of the LGBTI+ community. We move forward, with pride and hope!
